Abe proposes 8 programs for Russian economy during visit to Sochi - Japanese Foreign Ministry spokesman
MOSCOW/SOCHI. May 7 (Interfax) - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe proposed eight programs to promote the development of the Russian economy and discussed Japanese companies' involvement in the Sakhalin-1 and Sakhalin-2 energy projects with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Russia on Friday, Japanese Foreign Ministry Press Secretary Yasuhisa Kawamura told Interfax.
"Prime Minister Abe and President Putin discussed the Sakhalin-1 and Sakhalin-2 projects and issues related to the automobile industry," Kawamura said.
"Prime Minister Abe proposed eight new programs for the Russian economy and Russian citizens, namely medical services, small and medium-sized industry, oil gas and energy, industry development, export sectors in the Far East, nuclear energy and high technology, urban planning, and mutual humanitarian exchanges. These are concrete programs proposed by the prime minister. President Putin called these proposals excellent and said he would like to cooperate with the Japanese side, so that the Japanese implement these programs through the creation of efficient workforce by the two countries," he said.
