Next wave of mobilization this year depends on situation at front - Poroshenko

KYIV. May 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has stated the holding of the next wave of mobilization would depend on the situation in the east of the country.

"The only thing I cannot promise now is that mobilization won't be conducted this year. Its perspective and scale depend not only on our plans but also on the situation at the front," the president said, speaking at the rally "The first minute of peace" at the Museum of History of Ukraine in World War II.

He said the minimum wage of serviceman is UAH 7,000, which significantly increased the number of people willing to join the army for contract service.

"Almost everyone mobilized during the fourth wave of mobilization was demobilized in April-March," Poroshenko said. According to the president, the seventh wave of mobilization has not been announced, and a decision to have a new wave of mobilization would depend on the situation at the front.
