March in honor of declaration of DPR begins in Donetsk
DONETSK. May 11 (Interfax) - A march devoted to the second anniversary of the declaration of the DPR, which has many thousands of participants carrying flags of the republic and flags of Russia, has begun on Artyom Street, the central street of Donetsk, an Interfax correspondent has reported.
The column is led by bikers. Some central streets of the city have been closed to traffic by traffic police. A stage for artists has been installed in Lenin Square.
"Official representatives of foreign delegations - South Ossetian Parliament Speaker Anatoly Bibilov, Abkhaz Prime Minister Artur Mikvabia, Russian Senators Sergei Mamedov, Alexander Totoonov, Olga Kovitidi, and also Russian State Duma deputies - are present at the event," an official with the administration of the head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) told reporters.
The official said the celebrations will end with a salute and performances by some Russian rock groups.
