U.S. national planning to marry man from N. Ossetia deported from Russia for breaches of migration laws
VLADIKAVKAZ. May 11 (Interfax) - Under a judgment of the Supreme Court of North Ossetia, Aubrey Michelle Allen, a U.S. national, who had come to meet her boyfriend in the village of Vinogradnoye, is being deported to her homeland, her lawyer Sergei Gabuyev told Interfax.
He said that the 23-year-old woman from Pennsylvania, had come to North Ossetia at the end of January, on a tourist visa, to meet Alan Khachirov from the Mozdok region, with whom she had corresponded on the web for a long time. Later, it was discovered that during her stay in Russia, she unknowingly broke the law twice.
"There are parts of North Ossetia where the presence of foreigners is restricted. She should have notified the department of the Federal Security Service (FSB) in writing that she was staying in Mozdok, which she didn't do, and the American woman was fined. Later, Khachirov registered her in the village of Nogir, in the Prigorodny district, which is also a restricted area. Within a year, Allen broke the law twice, which entails punishment in the form of a fine and deportation," Gabuyev said.
Prigorodny district court ruled to impose a fine in the amount of 2,000 rubles on her, and deport her from Russia. The Supreme Court of North Ossetia upheld the judgment, and declined Allen's appeal.
According to the lawyer, for some three weeks, Allen stayed at a temporary residence center for foreigners. During that time, she filled out an application renouncing her U.S. citizenship, but she was told that such applications should be submitted to her country's consulate.
"In addition, she applied to the department of the migration service in North Ossetia to grant her asylum in Russia, indicating that upon her return to the USA, she may be persecuted for her trip to Russia. She was denied, because the reasons that she stated don't comply with the grounds upon which refuge is granted," Gabuyev said.
The court bailiff service of North Ossetia announced that the deportation procedure would take place on May 11. Allen is to be accompanied to Moscow, and put on a plane. Under Russian law, she will be able to visit Russia after five years.
