AIIB to complement existing formats of international financial institutions - Putin

SOCHI. May 18 (Interfax) - The mechanism of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) will add to the existing formats of international financial institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB), Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with AIIB chief Jin Liqun.

"We are very hopeful that under your leadership the AIIB will occupy a worthy place in the structure of international financial institutions. No doubt it will be an addition to the IMF and World Bank, We know your determination to have this institution work in a market environment," Putin said.

He called Jin an experienced professional. "We hope the bank will work efficiently, primarily in the Asia Pacific region," the president said.
