Transneft to resume shipment of oil products on pipelines to Ukraine

MOSCOW. May 19 (Interfax) - Transneft is resuming shipment of petroleum products on pipelines running to Ukraine, Deputy Vice President Vladimir Nazarov, who is the head of Transneft's oil product transport and accounting department, said at a meeting of the company's public council.

"Beginning with May 2016, we are resuming supplies of oil products on pipeline transportation in the direction of Ukraine. This has not occurred over the past two years," he said.

"The main goal is to redirect oil product resources from the Baltic States. This will not in any way affect or reduce the resource base of Russian ports," Nazarov said.

Transneft Vice President Sergei Andronov told journalists the shipments would consist of fuel from Rosneft .

"For now we are only talking about Rosneft, which has concluded a contract on fuel supplies to Ukraine," Andronov said, adding that about 30,000 tonnes would be shipped before the end of May.

"Applications from Rosneft cover supply of up to 100,000 tonnes of oil products a month since the beginning of June," Nazarov told journalists, adding that the fuel in question was diesel for Ukraine's domestic market, citing documents submitted by Rosneft.

Transneft press secretary and advisor to the president Igor Dyomin said Ukraine might supply 30,000 tonnes in May, while another 30,000 tonnes would be needed just to fill the mothballed pipeline to the Ukrainian board. In other words, Rosneft will provide 60,000 tonnes, of which consumers will receive 30,000 tonnes, Dyomin said.
