Gref against nationalization of economy, monetary emission

MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax) - The chief executive of Russia's Sberbank , German Gref, has said he is opposed to nationalization of the economy and stimulating it with monetary emission, and urged to learn the lessons of history.

"Throughout our entire history, we have been repeating the same steps with enviable persistency. (...) Now we hear it again: let's try the monetary emission, which for some reason in our case would not cause an inflation; let's [try] the state economy, because private business is not working in our country," Gref said at the Skolkovo business school on Saturday.

"All this has already happened many times and all this has led to the well-known sad results," he said.

"It seems to me it is very important for us to still learn the lessons of our own history," Gref added.
