Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and China mull prospects of bilateral relations in Tashkent
TASHKENT. May 23 (Interfax) - Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov has met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who has come to Uzbekistan for an official visit, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry website reported on Monday.
"In the course of the meeting, the sides exchanged opinions about pressing matters in bilateral relations and the prospects of their development," the report says.
It says that the ministers discussed draft programs and the agenda for the upcoming Uzbek-Chinese top-level contacts.
The sides confirmed their interest in the fruitful results of Uzbekistan' presidency in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), in 2015-2016, and the success of the jubilee SCO summit in Tashkent. The upcoming session of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers should become an importance stage of preparation for the summit.
The meeting also discussed certain international and regional problems. The talks were attended by Chinese ambassador in Tashkent, Sun Lijie.
Earlier reports said that Uzbek President Islam Karimov would receive Wang Yi.
The meeting of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers will be held in Tashkent on May 23-24.
