French ambassador informed Russia about initiative to hold UN Security Council ministerial meeting in New York on June 10

MOSCOW. May 26 (Interfax) - French Ambassador to Russia Jean-Maurice Ripert in a meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov reported France's initiative to hold a ministerial meeting of the UN Security Council in New York on June 10, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Thursday.

"Jean-Maurice Ripert informed on the organization on the initiative of France in New York on June 10 of a ministerial meeting of the UN Security Council on the issue of the role of civilians in peacekeeping operations," a report, posted on the Russian Foreign Ministry website, says.

During the meeting, Gatilov and Ripert also discussed the aspects of settling the conflict in Syria, the Middle East issue, the elections of the new UN secretary-general and issues related to mutual support of candidates in elections to international organizations, the report says.
