Russian planes drop almost 40 tonnes of UN humanitarian aid to ISIL-besieged city in Syria - Russian Defense Ministry
MOSCOW. May 27 (Interfax-AVN) - Almost 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid have been delivered to residents of a Syrian city besieged by militants of Islamic State (ISIL, a terrorist group outlawed in Russia), the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"Russia airplanes dropped parachute platforms with 39 tonnes of food supplies, received via the UN, to the city of Deir ez-Zor, besieged by Islamic State militants," the Russian center for reconciliation of the opposing sides in Syria said.
Three tonnes of relief supplies were delivered to the settlement of Herbet al-Kabu (Homs Province), and one tonne of humanitarian aid was delivered to the settlement of Aziziyah (Aleppo Province), the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"Measures continue to form humanitarian convoys to help citizens of Syria. Bread has been delivered to local residents in the settlement of Tell al-Naam (Aleppo Province)," it said.
