Washington ready to support Baku at highest level in implementing Southern Gas Corridor project - U.S. ambassador
BAKU. June 2 (Interfax) - The United States is ready to support at the highest level the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) project, U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Cekuta told reporters.
The U.S. has always supported Azerbaijan in implementing this project, which is estimated at $44.5 billion, and today it is also ready to extend support to it at the highest level, the ambassador said. The U.S. has always supported Azerbaijan in producing and transporting hydrocarbons - first oil, and now gas, Cekuta said.
American companies are already cooperating with Azerbaijan in renewable energy, and other companies are interested in establishing cooperation with Baku in this area, he said.
The main goal of this cooperation is to ensure the energy security of both Azerbaijan and Europe and an even larger region in general, the diplomat said.
