VTB24 bank denies reports of 120 mln ruble stolen from it in 2011

MOSCOW. June 3 (Interfax) - The VTB24 bank has denied reports of a 120 million ruble theft from the bank five years ago.

"A number of today's media reports, citing law enforcement authorities, put out information about an arrest of suspects in a 120 million ruble theft from the VTB24 bank. This information is untrue," the bank said in a press release obtained by Interfax on Friday.

"Neither the VTB24 bank, nor its clients are the affected party," it said.

A source in law enforcement authorities said earlier, on Friday, that the Moscow police had arrested a group of five people suspected of having stolen over 120 million rubles from the bank in 2011 by using false bank cards.
