Pakistan takes interest in buying Russia's Sukhoi Su-35 - state minister

MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax) - The Pakistani authorities have taken an interest in buying Russia's Sukhoi Su-35 planes, Pakistani State Minister, Trade Development Authority Chief Executive S.M. Muneer said.

"Yes, Pakistan is very much interested in it," he told Interfax, answering a question concerning whether Islamabad was going to buy Sukhoi Su-35 fighters from Russia.

He also said that Pakistan was interested in buying other types of Russian military hardware.

"My job is for business, but I have information that Pakistan is going to buy different military things from Russia. I don't know the possible sum of the contracts but it is big," he said.

The Nation, an influential Pakistani newspaper, wrote in March with reference to a senior representative of the Defense Ministry that bilateral negotiations with Russia were underway for the purposes of Pakistan's procurement of a batch of Sukhoi Su-35 aircraft.
