NATO training on Finnish territory is not targeted against others, their purpose is to strengthen country's defense potential - Finnish foreign minister

MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax) - The NATO training that began in Finland on Monday is not targeted against anyone, its purpose is to strengthen the country's defense potential, Finnish Foreign Minister Timo Soini said.

"All these actions are aimed at strengthening our defense capability and, naturally, they are not targeted against anyone," Soini said on Monday at a press conference following negotiations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Finland is closely cooperating with NATO as well as Sweden, he added.

"Finland makes decisions [on whether to participate in exercises] regardless of anyone, and our goal is to strengthen security, there is no other goal," the minister said.
