Tbilisi expects FIFA's 'correct legal response' to Abkhazia's admission request
TBILISI. June 9 (Interfax) - The Georgian Football Federation said it was convinced that the world football governing body FIFA would not consider Abkhazia's request seeking admission to FIFA.
Georgia's Football Federation said in a statement on Thursday it had learned from media reports that "the de facto government of the unrecognized Republic of Abkhazia" was going to ask FIFA to consider the possibility of admitting the Abkhaz Football Federation to FIFA.
The Georgian Football Federation said it was convinced that "FIFA's ruling body will offer a correct legal response."
It was reported that Abkhaz Prime Minister Artur Mikvabia had forwarded a letter to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, asking him to consider the possibility of admitting the republic's Football Federation to FIFA.
