No decisions on settlement for south-eastern Ukraine to be made at Nuland-Surkov meeting - Peskov

MOSCOW. June 24 (Interfax) - No decisions concerning the settlement of the situation in the south-east of Ukraine can be made at a meeting of Russian Presidential Aide Vladislav Surkov and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, the Kremlin said.

"No, no [decisions] can be [made at this meeting]," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday.

"It is a traditional exchange of opinions, sort of a traditional comparing of notes," Peskov said after being asked to comment on the ongoing meeting.

"Not being a participant in the 'Normandy format', the American colleagues receive first-hand information in such a way. Such a direct dialogue channel is quite positive, so that Washington will fully understand what is happening [in the implementation of the Minsk agreements] and generally impact the settlement prospects," Peskov said.
