Russia and Turkey have no disagreements over which groups to be considered terrorist in Syria - Lavrov

SOCHI. July 1 (Interfax) - Moscow and Ankara have no disagreements over which groups should be considered terrorist in Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"Essentially, we have no disagreements over who to consider terrorists and who not to consider terrorists," he said at a press conference in Sochi.

Lavrov recalled that earlier Russia proposed to include Jaysh al-Islam and Ahrar al-Sham in the list of terrorist-affiliated entities, which had been formalized in the UN Security Council's resolution on Syria, because "there is evidence that these organizations violate all military laws."

"However, at that time the UN Security Council had no consensus, and Russia decided not to insist on adding two aforementioned structures to this list, solely out of the desire to start doing something collectively in Syria as soon as possible," he said.
