Poroshenko calls U.S. key ally of Ukraine

KYIV. July 7 (Interfax) - The United States is the main partner of Ukraine in countering security challenges, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said.

"In the context of countering security challenges we have noted that the U.S. is and remains Ukraine's key ally on the global stage," he said at a joint briefing with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry in Kyiv on Thursday.

Poroshenko noted that Ukraine and the U.S. are united by "common values and the common understanding that the civilized world can only together stand against the attempts to destabilize the international security system."
