Freight turnover in Kazakhstan up 0.9% in H1 2016

ALMATY. July 15 (Interfax) - Freight turnover in Kazakhstan totaled 240.623 billion tonne-km in January-June 2016 or an increase of 0.9% year-on-year, the Statistics Committee of the National Economy Ministry said.

Rail transportation remained unchanged at 111.481 billion tonne-km, while road transportation decreased by 0.3% to 69.053 billion tonne-km.

Sea transportation fell by 18.2% to 773.7 million tonne-km and air transportation decreased by 12.1% to 17.6 million tonne-km.

Pipeline transportation was up 4.5% to 59.291 billion tonne-km.

Passenger traffic increased in the reporting period by 1.9% year over year to 124.061 billion passenger-kilometers.
