Two citizens of Estonia killed in Nice terror attack

TALLINN. July 19 (Interfax) - The French authorities have formally confirmed the death of two Estonian citizens in the Nice terror attack to the Estonian Foreign Ministry, a representative of the ministry's press service told Interfax on Tuesday.

Estonian Foreign Minister Marina Kaljurand extended condolences to the families and friends of the victims.

Estonian Prime Minister Taavi Roivas expressed his condolences, as well.

"It is a sad day for Estonia. For the first time, we have to admit the harsh inevitability: we have experienced the painful impact of terrorism in the most sorrowful way," Roivas said in a statement released on Tuesday.

The Estonian government will assist the families of the Nice terror attack's victims, Estonian Social Protection Minister Margus Tsahkna said on Tuesday. "My sincere condolences to the families and friends of the terror attack's victims. The government for its part is ready to render comprehensive professional assistance," he said.

The Estonian media said that the Nice terror attack killed a woman, who was on vacation with her husband, daughter and grandchildren, and a student of the Tallinn University of Technology, who was participating in the activity of the European Innovation Academy in Nice.
