DPR observes 709 Ukrainian army attacks in past 24 hours

DONETSK. July 20 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian army conducted over 700 attacks on territory of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) in the past 24 hours, the Donetsk news agency said on Wednesday.

"The number of attacks by Ukrainian punishers continued to increase; the republic's territory was attacked 709 times over the past day," the news agency said with the reference to the republican operative command.

The Ukrainian army fired 261 120mm and 82mm mines, in addition to using grenade launchers, infantry combat vehicles and small arms. Makiyivka, Dokuchayevsk, the towns of Zaitseve, Holmivskyi and Kruta Balka, the villages of Spartak, Zhabunky, Mineralne, Vesele, Sakhanka, Kominternove, Oktyabr and Vasylivka, the industrial zone and the water filtering station area, the Petrovskyi district of Donetsk and the airport came under attack.

The Donetsk news agency also reported damages suffered by private houses in Horlivka, Yasynuvata and Vesele. About 20 homes were damaged in Zaitseve.

"The gunfire was very intense, and the population of Zaitseve spent the night in basements. It is possible that more homes have been damaged in the attacks," the Donetsk news agency quoted acting head of the Zaitseve village administration Irina Dikun as saying.

The operative command shared all information about violations of the Minsk agreements with representatives of the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the ceasefire regime and OSCE observers.
