KEGOC to complete Phase I of North-East-South High-Voltage 500 kV Transit Line construction ahead of schedule by December 2016
SEMEI. July 27 (Interfax-Kazakhstan) - JSC KEGOC plans to complete Phase I of the construction of the North-East-South High-Voltage 500 kV Transit Line namely Ekibastuz- Shulbinsk Power Plant (Semei) - Ust-Kamenogorsk 500 kV High-Voltage Transmission Line ahead of schedule by December 2016 to mark the 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan's Independence, Chairman of the management Board of State Fund Samruk-Kazyna Umirzak Shukeyev said.
The conctruction works are ongoing ahead of schedule, Shukeyev said on Wednesday, during his business trip to the construction sites - part of the project - in East Kazakhstan region.
Chairman of the Management Board of KEGOC Bakytzhan Kazhiyev, during meetings on the construction sites, also confirmed that all construction and installation works as part of this project will be completed this autumn. In his words, the commissioning of 500 kV transmission line will increase the network bandwidth in the North-East direction and eliminate electricity shortages in East Kazakhstan region thereby securing the region's independence from supplies elsewhere, including electricity transmitted from Russia's power grid.
Kazhiyev also said that the construction and erection works as part of Phase II of the Construction of Shulbinskaya HPP (Semei) - Aktogai - Taldykorgan - Alma High-Voltage 500 kV Eastern Transit got underway this year and are to be completed in 2018.
Phase I of the project enivisages building 700 km of 500 kV and 220 kV transmission lines, of which 673 km are already built, including 573 km of 500 kV transmission line and 100 km of 220 kV transmission line.
The general contractors of the North-East-South High-Voltage 500 kV Transit Line Project are Promstroi-Energo LLP, Satti Zhol LLP, EnergoPromStroiServicr LLP, Karelektrospetsstroi LLP.
KEGOC is the operator of Kazakhstan's national power grid.
