Russian imports from non-CIS countries fall 6.6% in 7M, 1.2% in July

MOSCOW. Aug 8 (Interfax) - Russian imports from non-CIS countries fell 6.6% year-on-year in January-July to $84.396 billion, the Federal Customs Service (FCS) said.

In July alone, these imports fell 1.2% year-on-year to $13.654 billion.

In July 2016 purchases of food goods fell 19.6% year-on-year to $1.458 billion, those of chemical products fell by 8.5% to $2.6 billion, textiles and footwear by 2.2% to $984 million, and the import of machine-building products rose 11.9% to $6.88 billion.

In food imports, the purchases of meat and byproducts fell by 50%, fish - by 28.9%, vegetables - by 28.1%, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages by 25.1%, fruit - 20.1%, grain crops - 18.8%, sugar - 17.3%, tobacco - 16.4%. Meanwhile the imports of dairy products rose by 17.3% and those of vegetable oil rose 6.6%.

In chemical industry product imports, the imports of perfumes and cosmetics fell by 13.3%, pharmaceutical products - 8.9%, polymers and rubber - 7.5%, organic and non-organic chemical products - 6.7%, soap and synthetic cleaning agents - 4.2%.

Among textiles and footwear, the purchases of ready textile goods fell by 20.9%, knit fabric - 19.9%, textile materials - 9.9%, manmade yarn - 4.8%, knitwear - 2.1%, textile clothing - 1.6%. Cotton imports rose by 5.1% year-on-year, as did those of synthetic fibers - 3.1%, footwear - 1.9%.

Imports of machine-building products rose due to the increase in purchases of flying apparatuses by 2.6-fold, vessels by 70%, mechanical equipment by 10.6%, electrical equipment by 5.7%, optic instruments and apparatuses - 4.5%, land transport - 3.4%, but the import of railway locomotive parts fell by 7.2%.
