Four servicemen injured in helicopter hard landing in Yamal - Russian Defense Ministry
MOSCOW. Aug 12 (Interfax-AVN) - An Mi-8 helicopter belonging to the Russian Foreign Ministry has made a hard landing in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District; four servicemen were hurt, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday.
"Four servicemen sustained moderately severe injuries in the helicopter landing. There is no threat to the injured servicemen's lives and health," the Russian Defense Ministry's press service and information department said in a report obtained by Interfax-AVN on Friday.
The helicopter was carrying 17 servicemen.
The helicopter made a hard landing 55 kilometers southeast of the populated area of Vladimir-Nak, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, the report said.
"All those hurt in the search and rescue service's Mi-8 helicopter were promptly taken to a medical facility in Salekhard. A Russian Defense Ministry commission has been sent to the air accident site," the report said.
The Russian Defense Ministry earlier said 280 servicemen and some 30 units of equipment were used for fulfilling special tasks to eliminate an anthrax center in the Yamal district of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District.
On July 25, quarantine was put in place in the Yamal district of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District over the death of deer from anthrax. A total of 2,300 animals were killed.
An anthrax agent was found in 23 people. A 12-year-old boy died.
Specialists from the radiation, chemical and biological protection troops of the Central Military District were used to eliminate the focus of infection. A full-scale operation began on August 1.
