DPR militia accuses Kyiv of attack on JCCC observation post
DONETSK. Aug 15 (Interfax) - An observation post of the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the ceasefire (JCCC) situated near Oleksandrivka, west of Donetsk, came under Ukrainian fire, the Donetsk news agency said on Monday.
"The Ukrainian side fired 122mm weapons on the town of Oleksandrivka at 00:05 a.m. The JCCC observation post found itself within the line of fire," the Donetsk news agency quoted a representative of the security agencies of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic as saying.
Yasynuvata, Trudovske and Olenivka were also shelled. As many as 84 artillery projectiles of 122mm and 152mm caliber were fired on them, the DPR representative said.
In all, at least five artillery projectiles were fired on the area around the JCCC post, he said.
Nearly 400 mines and artillery shells were fired on DPR territory overnight, the republic's security agencies said.
"The Ukrainian side fired 267 82mm and 120mm mines and 102 122mm and 152mm artillery projectiles in the evening and during the night. The shelling stopped only at 2:10 a.m.," the Donetsk news agency said with reference to a representative of the security agencies.
Gunfire was observed in the towns of Olenivka, Trudovske and Oleksandrivka, the villages of Krasnyi Partisan, Sosnovske, Zaichenko, Dzerzhinske, Leninske, Kominternove and Sakhanka, Novoazovsk, Yasynuvata and the vicinity of Donetsk airport and the Volvo Center.
The Ukrainian side was using not only mortars and artillery, but also infantry combat vehicles, grenade launchers and small arms. Snipers were active in Yasynuvata, it said.
According to the DPR Defense Ministry, ten homes were damaged in the shelling incidents.
"Three homes were damaged in the village of Kominternove in the Novoazovsk district in the overnight attack, and two of them were actually razed. One building suffered damage at 15 Vartazarova Street in the village of Dzerzhinske. Another six homes were damaged in the Petrovskyi district of Donetsk," a Defense Ministry representative told the press on Monday.
