Medvedev urges agricultural regions to preserve this year's bumper grain crop

GORKI. Aug 17 (Interfax) - Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has given Russia's agricultural regions the task of preserving this year's bumper grain crop.

During a meeting with Stavropol territory Governor Vladimir Vladimirov, Medvedev said the current harvest was outstanding and expressed thanks to farmers for the work they have done.

Medvedev emphasized the importance of "preserving and storing the harvest."

"This really is a key task for our country now, given that exports of grain and agricultural production overall exceed arms exports by one-fourth. This is a very important result, which we have been advancing toward a long time in other areas of agricultural production, crop farming as well," he said.
