Attempt made to smuggle 21kg of cocaine alongside frozen fish into Russia
ST. PETERSBURG. Aug 18 (Interfax) - Baltic customs officers have seized more than 21 kilograms of cocaine onboard a ship that arrived in St. Petersburg port, the customs press service said on Thursday.
"The possible presence of an alien substance in the technological compartment of a refrigerator unit was established. A search of the container's refrigerator yielded a 21kg briquette of powder. The information was immediately shared with law enforcement units of customs," the report said.
An express test identified the substance as cocaine, with a total weight exceeding 21 kilograms. The cargo was declared as frozen fish.
