Shoigu on tasks of surprise inspection: it is Armed Forces' immediate training to defend Russian interests amid growing threats to its security
MOSCOW. Aug 25 (Interfax-AVN) - A surprise combat readiness inspection will focus on the full cycle of the Armed Forces' training to defend Russia's interests amid growing security threats, Russian Defense Minister Gen. of the Army Sergei Shoigu said on Thursday.
Shoigu ordered "the full cycle of the Armed Forces' immediate training to defend the interests of the Russian Federation amid increasing threats to its security."
"Issues linked with interdepartmental planning, the organization of interaction and the practical fulfillment of mobilization tasks by industrial enterprises shall be tackled jointly with federal executive power institutions and institutions of the executive branch of power in constituents of the Russian Federation," he said.
"The undisrupted and sustainable command of armed forces during marches and transportation shall be ensured through deploying field mobile command points for armed forces units, as well as through using advanced automated systems," the defense minister said.
Shoigu also ordered that "strict compliance with security requirements and the safety of weapons and ammunition be ensured during these measures, instances of damage being caused to state property be ruled out and any negative impact on the environment be prevented."
The surprise inspection of combat preparedness was launched in line with the Russian supreme commander-in-chief's decision on Thursday. The forces of the country's Southern Military District, as well as some of the forces and means of the Western and Central Military Districts, the Northern Fleet, the Main Command of the Aerospace Forces and the Airborne Troops Command were put on full combat alert at 7:00 a.m. Moscow time as part of the check, which is due to be completed on August 31.
