Moldovan liberals present Romanian premier with map showing Moldova as part of his country

CHISINAU. Aug 25 (Interfax) - The leader of Moldovan liberals, Mihai Ghimpu, has presented Romanian Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos, who is making his first official visit to Moldova on Thursday, with a map of the "Great Kingdom of Romania."

A caption on the gift says: "We speak one language, are one nation and will be one country!" the Moldovan press wrote.

The Liberal Party and its leader Ghimpu have campaigned for Moldova's accession to Romania, seeing the republic as a "second Romania state" that will sooner or later "reunite with its motherland Romania." Moldova's reunification with Romania is the priority on the Party's manifesto.

The Liberal Party, which is represented in national parliament, is part of the current ruling coalition led by the Democratic Party.

The Kingdom of Romania included Bessarabia most of which is now part of the independent Republic of Moldova. Romania was the first country to recognize the independence of Moldova proclaimed on August 27, 1991.
