Russian deputy foreign minister, Palestinian ambassador discuss efforts to advance Mideast peace process
MOSCOW. Aug 26 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov met with Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Abdel Hafiz Nofal, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"During the conversation, primary significance was attached to the situation taking shape in the Middle East, with an emphasis placed on the importance of intensifying efforts toward promoting the Palestinian-Israeli peace process on the well-known international legal basis aimed at the establishment of an independent and viable Palestinian state coexisting in peace and security with Israel," it said.
Bogdanov and Nofal also reaffirmed special significance of maintaining intensive Russian-Palestinian political dialogue on the entire range of the Middle East problems, it said.
