Putin to have first meeting with new British PM in Hangzhou on Sept 4 - Ushakov

MOSCOW. Aug 30 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold bilateral negotiations with new British Prime Minister Theresa May on the G20 summit sidelines in Hangzhou on Sunday, presidential aide Yury Ushakov said on Tuesday.

"The president will have his first contact with new British Prime Minister Theresa May on September 4," Ushakov told the press briefing.

The current Russian-British relations are practically in a deadlock, he said. "There are no contacts, no discussions, maybe, except for telephone conversations with my counterpart, national security advisor to the prime minister," Ushakov said.

"For this reason we give high priority to this contact, because we expect that any momentum to be given at least to the development of vital practical contacts between two countries," he said.
