Head of Russian emergencies ministry's Primorye branch dies when rescuing people after truck falls into river

MOSCOW. Sept 2 (Interfax) - The director of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry's branch for the Primorye territory, Oleg Fedyura, died when rescuing people after a Kamaz truck collapsed into a local river, the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry's press service said.

Fedyura and a group of rescuers were en route to Uborka, one of the populated localities hit the hardest by a recent storm, when the accident occurred.

"When heading to the storm-stricken populated locality of Uborka, which has a population of over 1,000 people, the Kamaz carrying head of the Emergency Situations Ministry's Main Department for the Primorye territory Oleg Fedyura and eight rescuers of the Far East regional search and rescue unit fell into the overflowing Pavlovka River," the press service said.

Fedyura died when rescuing the group after the accident, it said. The other people from the truck were not injured.
