Brazilian man tries to smuggle 1.5kg of drug disguised as 'tea for meditation' into Russia

MOSCOW. Sept 2 (Interfax) - Customs officers at Domodedovo airport detained a citizen of Brazil who was trying to smuggle into Russia almost 1.5 kilograms of drugs disguised as tea for meditation, the press service of the Russian Federal Customs Service said.

"A 66-year-old citizen of Brazil, who arrived on a Lisbon-Moscow flight, was stopped in the green corridor. Four bottles filled with a dark-brown liquid were found in his luggage. The results of examinations showed that they contained the narcotic substance dimethyltryptamine. The drug weighed almost 1.5 kilograms," it said.

The man explained that this 'tea for meditation' was a present for his acquaintances, the press service said.

A criminal investigation has been launched on a count of 'drug smuggling', it said.
