Belarusian PM to go to Samarkand to attend Karimov's funeral

MINSK. Sept 2 (Interfax) - Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov has been instructed by President Alexander Lukashenko to attend late Uzbek President Islam Karimov's funeral, Belarusian state-run media outlets reported.

Lukashenko forwarded his condolences to the Uzbek leadership and people and to Karimov's family and beloved ones.

Karimov died on Friday following a stroke he had suffered last Saturday, the Uzbek government and parliament said in an official statement reported by national television.

The former Uzbek leader will be buried in his home city of Samarkand on September 3.
