Russian, Tanzanian defense ministers enter into cooperation agreement

KUBINKA (Moscow region). Sept 6 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia and Tanzania have signed a military cooperation agreement and a contract for training servicemen from the East African country at Russian military schools.

Russian Defense Minister Gen. of the Army Sergei Shoigu and Tanzanian Defense and National Service Minister Hussein Mwinyi put their signatures under the cooperation agreement.

A contract for training Tanzanian servicemen at Russian Defense Ministry schools was signed in the presence of the ministers.

The Tanzanian delegation's visit to Moscow "is vivid proof of friendly relations between the defense ministries and peoples of the two countries," Shoigu said. "I would like to thank you for participating in the Army international military-technical forum for a second time," he said.

This forum is a major platform promoting bilateral relations in the military and military-technical fields, he said. "More than 1,000 companies which manufacture weapons and military hardware are represented here. Delegations from more than 80 countries are visiting us," Shoigu said.

Russia and Tanzania "have a long history of perfect bilateral relations and cooperation in the field of defense, which started in the Soviet era," Mwinyi said.

This meeting will contribute to the development of bilateral relations, he said.

"I would like to use this opportunity to express sincere gratitude on behalf of my delegation for the possibility to visit the Army 2016 forum," the minister said. He said he was grateful for the cordial welcome and hospitality.
