Russian-U.S. deal on Syria to take effect on September 12 - Lavrov

GENEVA. Sept 10 (Interfax) - The Russian-U.S. agreements on Syria concluded in Geneva early on Saturday will take effect on Monday, September 12, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"These documents will officially take effect on September 12," Lavrov told journalists in Geneva in the early hours of Saturday, following a negotiating marathon with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry.

Russia and the U.S. "have formed a very solid and an extremely concrete package of documents" in Geneva, he said.

"For reasons that John [Kerry] has mentioned, we cannot make these documents public. They contain quite substantial sensitive information, and we don't want it to get into the hands of those who are likely to try to disrupt the implementation of measures concerning humanitarian aid delivery and other aspects of our agreements," he said.
