Gazprom's Miller confident of swift selection of Nord Stream 2 configuration
TIKHVIN (Leningrad region). Sept 12 (Interfax) - Gazprom's foreign partners in Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline are continuing to work on the project, Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller told journalists.
"Absolutely all the partners that have been participants from the very beginning continue to work on the project. They have all confirmed to Gazprom their participation in the project," he said.
As reported earlier, the participants filed with regulators in Germany and Poland to create the Nord Stream 2 joint venture in December 2015. The German regulators approved the filing in 18 days, while those in Poland took additional time to examine the proposal, ultimately announcing its official rejection at the end of July.
On August 15, project partners Gazprom, Engie, OMV, Shell, Uniper and Wintershall on Friday decided to do without Polish consent to their forming a joint venture.
The partners said in a joint statement that the Swiss-registered Nord Stream 2 AG, currently wholly owned by Gazprom, would still be implementing the project, and that each partner would look for ways to make its own contribution.
"As for the specific model for project implementation, there are currently several options. They are being discussed. We are conducting negotiations. I think that literally in the next few months we will make a final decision," Miller said.
Nord Stream 2 stipulates construction of a third and fourth line of the pipeline under the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany, boosting overall capacity on the route to 110 billion cubic meters a year.
