Russian foreign minister proposes to declassify Russia-U.S. agreement on Syria
MOSCOW. Sept 13 (Interfax) - Russia plans to seek publication of Russia-U.S. agreements on Syria achieved on September 9 and also hopes that the agreements will be approved by a resolution of the UN Security Council.
"In order to prevent any doubts in relation to how we will implement the agreement as reached, we have proposed to publish this agreement and not to keep it secret, which our U.S. partners would like to do. We have nothing to hide. All that's written there is the subject of an accord," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told a news conference in Moscow.
"We will seek publication of this document and propose to approve this document, without any amendments, via a resolution of the UN Security Council," Lavrov said.
Lavrov described the recent statement of White House spokesman Josh Earnest, who expressed doubt on behalf of the U.S. administration that the Russian side would actually fulfill its obligations under the agreement, as "strange."
