State Duma election results are impressive vote of confidence in Putin - Peskov
MOSCOW. Sept 19 (Interfax) - The State Duma election results are an impressive vote of confidence in Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
"Obviously, an overwhelming majority of voters de facto supported the president. Once again the president has gained an impressive vote of confidence from people of this country," Peskov said.
He did not say whether the election outcome would influence Putin's decision to run for re-election in 2018. "I cannot answer this question," Peskov said.
As to whether the president planned to meet with representatives of the victorious parties, Peskov said, "Such meetings are traditional. We will inform you about this meeting as soon as it is scheduled."
