Russian National Guard ready to protect Crimean bridge, power grid

MOSCOW. Sept 20 (Interfax) - Russian security agencies are working out a plan to protect the Kerch bridge, Russian National Guard Deputy Director Lt. Gen. Oleg Borukayev said.

"An interdepartmental working group has been set up in the federal executive authorities, and possible dangers to the transport route or the energy bridge are being analyzed," Borukayev told the press on Tuesday.

So far, the Federal Security Service's Border Service and anti-sabotage groups of the Black Sea Fleet are protecting sites in the Kerch Strait area, he said.

"In the future, the facility will be taken under protection by either National Guard troops or combined forces," Borukayev said.

"A project of the bridges' protection by National Guard troops has already been proposed," he said.
