Dagestan resident gets over 5 years in jail for aiding militants
MAKHACHKALA. Sept 21 (Interfax-AVN) - The Karabudakhkentsky District Court in Dagestan has handed down a sentence to a local resident charged with aiding militants, the republic's prosecutors told Interfax on Wednesday.
"The court determined that N. Temirkhanov, a resident of the Karabudakhkentsky district, assisted the leader of the subversive-terrorist group Makhachkalinskaya, and also illegally stored weapons and explosives," the source said.
The man was charged with three crimes: aiding and abetting of participation in an armed group not envisaged by federal legislation, illegal weapons turnover and illegal explosives turnover.
The man was sentenced to five years and three months in a penal colony.
