Azerbaijani foreign minister accuses Armenia of provocations aimed at thwarting Karabakh settlement talks
BAKU. Sept 22 (Interfax) - Armenia continues to stage provocations for disrupting the Karabakh settlement talks, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said.
He met with OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier on the sidelines of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's press service said.
"Mammadyarov said at the meeting that Azerbaijan was prepared to hold substantive negotiations for the purposes of changing the status quo within the framework of the agreements reached in Vienna and St. Petersburg. However, Armenia carries on its destructive policy and provocations, seeking to harm the negotiation process. The military exercises started by Armenia in the occupied Agdam district of Azerbaijan are a major provocation aimed at disrupting the negotiations," the press service said.
Mammadyarov and Zannier said at the meeting that both Azerbaijan and the OSCE were interested in practical cooperation. "Mammadyarov said that measures developing transport and energy corridors would be an efficient part of such cooperation," the report said.
