MPs from single-seat districts to help strengthen State Duma's ties with regions - Putin

NOVO-OGARYOVO. Sept 23 (Interfax) - The considerable number of MPs elected to Russia's new State Duma in single-seat districts will help make parliament's connection with the country's regions stronger, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"The elections employed a mixed system, which we all supported. One half of deputies were elected to the country's parliament in single-seat districts. It means that the connection of the lower house of parliament with the regions, the territories will be closer and more reliable," Putin said at a meeting with the leaders of the parties elected to the State Duma.

Hopefully, in this case "feedback will become better," he said.
