MOSCOW. Sept 27 (Interfax) - The Russian Interior Ministry continues an internal check in its anti-corruption department following the arrest of acting head of the T division in the Main Economic Crime and Anti-Corruption Department Dmitry Zakharchenko.

"At present, officers of the Main Internal Security Department and the Civil Service and Human Resources Department of the Russian Interior Ministry continue an internal check as regards the administration of the Main Economic Crime and Anti-Corruption Department. A decision will be made consistent with the current laws upon the end of this check," Russian Interior Ministry spokesperson Irina Volk said.

A number of media outlets said earlier that the anti-corruption department head, Andrei Kurnosenko, would step down after the check.

In turn, two sources told Interfax that Kurnosenko would keep his position but face a disciplinary reprimand.
