Russian ambassador to Libya says has no info about request for weapon supplies to Libyan army
MOSCOW. Sept 28 (Interfax) - Russian Ambassador to Libya Ivan Molotkov is not informed that Libyan army Commander-in-Chief Khalifa Haftar has sent an address to the Russian leadership asking for weapon supplies.
"I know nothing about the request," Molotkov told Interfax, answering a specific question.
Besides, he said that the Libyan army chief commander's special envoy Abdel Basset al-Badri visited Moscow, where he held the talks at the Russian Foreign Ministry on September 26.
"Yes, he arrived, met with our leaders at the Foreign Ministry, but regarding the weapon supplies I cannot comment on it at all," he also said.
The media earlier circulated reports that Haftar had sent an address to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu asking for weapon supplies to the Libyan army. The message was allegedly handed over through the Russian Foreign Ministry during the visit by the chief commander's special envoy in Moscow.
