Putin signs decree to draft 152,000 conscripts this fall
MOSCOW. Sept 29 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree regarding the military draft campaign in October - December 2016 and the dismissal of current conscripts from the military service.
"To carry out, from October 1 to December 31, 2016, the military draft of Russian citizens between 18 and 27, who are not in reserve and are subject, under the law 'On military duty and military service,' to the military draft, in the amount of 152,000 people," according to the text of the decree, posted on the official web portal of legal information.
To carry out, in accordance with the same law, a dismissal from the military service of soldiers, sailors, sergeants and sergeant majors, whose term of military service has expired, according to the document.
The decree dated September 29 is effective from the day of official publication.
The Russian government, regional executive authorities and military recruitment offices have been instructed to ensure implementation of measures relating to the military draft.
The heads of federal executive authorities are to ensure implementation of the provisions of the law "On Military duty and military service" regarding Russian citizens employed by the affiliates of such federal executive authorities, who are not in reserve and are subject to the military draft.
