Russians asked to avoid public venues abroad on Sept 30 due to possible provocations - Russian Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW. Sept 30 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry has asked Russian citizens currently abroad to be careful and to avoid public venues on September 30 due to possible insults against Russia and provocations with regard to its citizens.
"Moscow took note of calls from a number of organizations, including Islamic ones, to hold the so-called 'Day of Rage and Protest' against a new wave of fighting in Aleppo together with the Friday prayers on September 30," the ministry said on its website.
"In this context, we recommend that Russians visiting foreign countries or living there should take reasonable precautionary measures tomorrow and refrain from visiting places where this 'rage and protest' can be directed against their dignity and security," it said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry did not rule out that "such an event may be used by extremist elements in certain countries to insult Russia and stage provocations against its citizens."
