Russian mortgage lending to double in next few years through state measures - Medvedev

SOCHI. Sept 30 (Interfax) - State measures to support mortgage lending will allow the volume and number of home loans in Russia to double in the next few years, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.

"I reckon that already in a few years those measures will allow for the volume and number of home loans to double and also reach a new figure in the construction of housing, around 100 million square meters a year," he said taking part in a plenary session of an international investment forum in Sochi.

Medvedev said that it was necessary to create the kind of mortgage securities market where there were clear and transparent rules of play, and most of all, where private investments would be protected.
