Ukrainian foreign minister to raise in Council of Europe issue of detention of Ukrainian Sushchenko in Russia
KYIV/MOSCOW. Oct 3 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin will raise the question of the detention in Russia of Ukrainian citizen Roman Sushchenko during a visit to Strasbourg, France for the days of Ukrainian reports in the Council of Europe.
"Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin intends to raise the question of the detention in Russia of Ukrinform journalist Roman Sushchenko during a visit to the Council of Europe," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mariana Betsa told Interfax on Monday.
She said the Foreign Ministry is working to determine the circumstances of Sushchenko's detention and the possibility of consular access to him.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is in contact with the detainee's relatives, Betsa said.
The Moscow Lefortovsky District Court arrested Sushchenko for two months on October 1.
