Ruling Georgian Dream party likely to get 36% of vote, 13% to support Saakashvili's party in Oct 8 elections - poll

TBILISI. Oct 6 (Interfax) - More than one third of Georgian voters - 36% - plan to vote for the ruling party Georgian Dream in the upcoming parliamentary elections slated for October 8, as is seen from the findings of a sociological poll conducted by GORBI under a contract with JPN Strategic Solutions GFK, an international research company, which the Georgian TV company Imedi presented on Wednesday.

The poll showed that only 13% of respondents intend to vote for the opposition United National Movement party, which was set up by former President Mikheil Saakashvili.

The Free Democrats party led by former Defense Minister Irakly Alasania is likely to garner 4% of the vote, the Labor Party 3%, and the Alliance of Patriots, the State for the People party, and the Democratic Movement bloc led by former parliamentary speaker Nino Burjanadze 2% each.

As many as 36% of respondents are still undecided.

The poll of 1,199 Georgian citizens using the direct interview method was conducted from September 27 through October 3. The margin of error is 2.8%.
